We awoke to frost and ice in the garden bird bath... the air crisp, clear and icy cool but the sun was shining as we bicycled to school... and I caught this photo while he played on the monkey bars... and it made my heart sing :) things I am loving right now: *warm oatmeal w ginger and turmeric * cumin, coriander and fennel tea *sesame oil on my body * chanterelles (full of vitamin d) *roasted carrots and soup, soup more soup *cosy scarves *morning light *breath... have a beautiful day and happy fall if you are in the northern hemisphere... #momlife #dinacharya #modernayurveda #blissedandblessed #exhale #viclife #islandmama #breathe #gratitude #getoutside #fall #autumn #yogue #parenting #fallrituals

Lunch: so simple and satisfying, evoo sautéed onion and kale w roasted kuri squash, cumin and kale. Lion and I savored this stormy Sunday by celebrating what we love so much about BC and Canada: our beautiful wilderness... This seems so apt to me the night before our Canadian elections. 🇨🇦 In lion’s words, “mom, if I could vote I would vote green because they actually care about our Forest’s, oceans and our animals and they don’t want a pipeline.” Sometimes you need an 8 year old to tell you exactly how it is... Some birthdays are about the little things... Today brought: Sunshine, A bicycle ride to school w the little guy towing a ride behind me on his skateboard Lots of laughs A quiet oat milk coffee by myself amidst the flowers @thornandthistleflowers New floors for our basement (apparently this means we are nesting or something...) A deer who wouldn’t leave our backyard A yoga class that left me craving more more more yoga and more time for practice and study and self care. Warm turnip soup Beet and ginger juice from @hearth_victoria Rain Sunshine More rain More sunshine Phone calls w family - my parents called me right at the time I was born from India :) ... and dear friends who are family. A beaming child at pick up who said hé played w other kids today (so far every day has been full of feeling lonely at the new school)... a candle on a cupcake from @originsbakery - I didn’t feel like baking on my Birthday Fall leaves falling everywhere And returning home tonight to the sweetest birthday card from @blissology safely delivered by @michaeltoru all the way down island :) Sometimes I forget how blessed I am until I start to add up the small things... know what I mean??? Yet when I think about it more, i realize it is always the little things offer us perspective and light and guidance towards the larger stuff. The little things offer those glimpses to deeper happiness... I love the idea of a pause when you walk into a house... this little nook is my moment of sweetness when you step into our little home... it makes me feel bright and I hope sends our love right back at you when you visit :) Ps. The cycle of life... it continues to wheel... we cut down an old clambering clematis vine on the side of the house yesterday... it was dry and dense and not so good for the drainage... so I saved some of the vine to make a wreath. This wreath to me is a symbol of the old and the new and the continuation of all things...
