I have decided over the years not to label how our family eats... we do eat mostly plants, we do strive to eat 90% organic and locally raised foods and we do prepare it with love. However I will share that I have struggled a lot with our son over the last two years of his being in public school where he has been exposed to more mainstream ways of eating... which is why it was so so good to hang w our friends in Breckenridge Colorado who also happen to run the country’s best vegan pizzeria (sorry @virtuous_pie but you are now second on our fav vegan pizza list )... but seriously those little hands could not eat this delicious, made w love food quickly enough!!! The fresh mountain air helped and lots of soccer also...:)! Recently life has seemed so sticky that I almost forget my calling... to teach and share right from that place in the center of my heart - that place of truth and boldness and joy. And then I step back into it and i am in the sweetness of flow. The offering comes through and it feels so real and right. Climb every mountain... ✨✨✨ Colorado thank you for your high elevations, authentic, real people and reconnection time with old, dear friends. Something happens when we find ourselves amidst the wide, open vistas of big nature... we lose ourselves, we notice that we cannot focus on the smallness of stuff that hasn’t gone exactly how we wanted to because the next turn takes our breath away... and the next one after that does too... When your 8 year old asks if you and he can meditate amongst the wildflowers you say YES! :) Later he tells you he needed to calm down after all the recent pogo stick jumping w @blissology !!! We eat a lot of fresh, green veggies in the summer. Their bitter, cooling taste helps to balance out the intensity of the summer heat outside, which in turn helps us to balance our digestive fire and our gut bacteria. Summer is also the only time I will sip on a simple smoothie and indulge once in a while in a plant based ice cream... and yes there are rules and principles I follow which stem from ayurveda, but the one I always return to is how does what I am about to eat, taste? Does it taste like what my body wants to eat right now? Can I be guided by taste? Delicious, balancing tastes that are perfect for me right now? And how do I feel after eating this food... after all, food is one of the most important gateways to optimal health... Weeknight supper inspo for a cool summer night... warm garlicky white beans w onion, celery and summer tomatoes, butternut squash, pink cabbage sauerkraut, beets and heaps of fresh basil... So simple, inexpensive and delicious... ✨Do buy dry beans that you can soak overnight then cook w a few bay leaves and peppercorns until soft. ✨Do use seasonal, local herbs and veggies. ✨Do make family dinner a ritual.
