But one of the things I do love most about cities is the access to cultural diversity - from sharing traditions and art with friends and strangers, learning from other cultures especially through story; and tasting new foods. It was a bit of effort on this cold Sunday but lion and I made it to the Chinatown parade. He loved the color and the spectacle of it and I loved seeing the transformation of public space and yes the people watching! We connected w some dear friends, tasted some new year delicAcies and beautiful tea and enjoyed being in the throng of all the busy-news. I used a v early wake up time to make some ghee and strain some organic chicken broth loaded w tons of veggies and herbs - the broth simmered all night and longer and wow It is so delicious. The kitchen smells divine, I feel more nourished and am so happy lion slurped down his khichadi (that we cooked in some bone broth) at lunch. Cooking is so much about being in rhythm and flow for me. It’s also so easy to get out of the flow and this week was a challenge as we were busy. But I try not to get too caught up in what I didn’t do and instead I use the weekends to stock up literally on stock and more good stuff to keep our little family happy and healthy!!! Lion is out finally sledding in the snow and I can dive in deep. It has been a journey but I am finally getting closer to completing the first step of my Ayurveda Counsellor and eventually practitioner journey. I spoke w a mentor today about some of the externship clients I’ve seen over the past few weeks. Her counsel was wise and loving and guided me deeper into unraveling and understanding how we can get a little more clear. How Ayurveda can give us more insight when we ask the right questions, how we can gently and compassionately hold space for all our trials, our suffering and pain and also offer glimpses into our innate healing wisdom. I never thought I would like working one on one with people so much in this way, but I truly do. We learn so much from sharing our stories, from being vulnerable enough to share our truth and it offers so much learning, insight and a deeper commitment to this powerful, healing work.
