Buddha Purnima

May 27, 2010 by insiyar Leave a Comment

“An idea that is developed and put into action is more important than an idea that exists only as an idea.” So said the Buddha.

I thought I would invoke this icon of peace and compassion on Buddha Purnima, a day celebrated by Buddhists and Hindus the world over as the day when the Buddha was born, gained enlightenment and attained Nirvana.  It is fitting I think that Buddha Purnima, or Vesak, as it is also called, arrives in the spring, with its transformative power, a time of change, flow and movement and of course the fleeting beauty of emerging flowers.
